Mt. Dhaulagiri Expedition- 8167m is the seventh-highest mountain in the world and one of the most desired peaks that stands tall at an altitude of 8,167m. Mt. Dhaulagiri extends towards the Western part of Nepal and is separated from Annapurna massif by the Kaligandaki gorge, the deepest gorge in Nepal.
Mt.dhaulagiri was first summited in 1960 by Kurt Diemberger and team via the Northeast region,it was one of the last 8,000ers climbed due to its isolation and difficulty.
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our expedition representative will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your deluxe hotel in Kathmandu. The rest of the day is free to rest after your international journey. Overnight stay at a hotel.
This day is allocated for official permit processing, equipment checking, and expedition briefing. You may also explore UNESCO heritage sites in Kathmandu. Overnight at the hotel.
A scenic 25-30 minute flight takes you to Pokhara with magnificent Himalayan views. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel near Lakeside. Overnight at a comfortable hotel.
After breakfast, drive approximately 7–8 hours (about 170 km) through scenic mountain highways to Marpha. The road journey passes through Tatopani and Kalopani along the Kali Gandaki gorge. Overnight at teahouse/lodge.
Rest and acclimatization day. Optional excursion drive or hike to Muktinath Temple (3,800 m). Short acclimatization hikes around Marpha village (3–5 km walking). Overnight at lodge.
The trek begins with a gradual ascent through alpine terrain and yak pastures. Walking distance is approximately 13 km, taking 6–7 hours. Overnight stay in a tented camp as teahouse facilities are not available beyond this point.
A challenging trekking day covering around 11 km over glacial moraine and high mountain terrain. Crossing French Pass (5,244 m), one of the most dramatic high passes in the region, before descending into Hidden Valley. Walking time: 7–8 hours. Overnight at a fully serviced tented camp.
Descend gradually toward Dhaulagiri Base Camp. Approximate walking distance is 9 km (5–6 hours). Upon arrival at Base Camp, settle into a well-organized expedition camp with dining, kitchen, communication, and sleeping tents. Overnight at tented camp.
This period is dedicated to acclimatization and load ferrying between higher camps (Camp I, II, and III). Climbers establish fixed ropes and stock camps progressively. Accommodation will be in high-altitude expedition tents at respective camps and Base Camp. Daily climbing distance varies depending on rotation schedule (typically 4 km vertical movement per rotation).
Summit attempts are made depending on weather conditions. The route ascends via high camps toward the summit of Dhaulagiri (8,167 m). Climbers stay in high-altitude tents at Camps I–III before making the final summit push. After summit success, descent back to Base Camp follows.
Begin descent retracing the route. Approximate walking distance 13 km (6–7 hours). Overnight at tented camp.
Long descent day covering around 15 km (6–7 hours). Upon arrival in Marpha, overnight at lodge/teahouse.
Scenic drive back to Pokhara (7–8 hours). Overnight at the hotel.
Morning scenic flight to Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel and free afternoon for rest or souvenir shopping. Overnight at the hotel.
Reserved buffer day in case of weather delays during summit push. If unused, free day for sightseeing or relaxation. Overnight at the hotel.
Transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your international departure with warm farewell from our expedition team.
